Meet Dr. Waseem Matthew Taraji
Why did you become a dentist?
Dr. Waseem Matthew Taraji was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq before he moved to Chicago, IL. He went on to complete his undergraduate degrees, a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Computer Science, at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Taraji graduated as Summa Cum Laude and was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Department of Biological Sciences. Dr. Taraji has completed multiple published research projects during both his undergraduate and graduate studies. His passion to help patients and love for surgical work lead him to enroll in dental school at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry, where he graduated in the top third of his class and received multiple scholarships and awards.
Continued Dental Education
Dr. Taraji also completed a general practice residency in Hospital Dentistry at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, during which he received certification in Laser Dentistry and Cone Beam CT training. Dr. Taraji is also certified in Invisalign and clear correct treatment, Nitrous Oxide administration and 3D Dentistry.
Dr. Taraji is working on earning a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. He also feels it is important to continuously expand his skills and knowledge and has participated in over 300 hours of continuing education.
Outside of Dentistry
Dr. Taraji has come to the Van Wert/Fort Wayne area with his fiancé Sarah and is eager to use his experience to serve this community. Outside of his work, Dr. Waseem Taraji enjoys playing soccer, videogames, travelling, and taking part in competitive sports.
